2004 Land Rover Discovery II SE — Epsom Green / OME Lifted / 82,496 Miles
One of the best-running Discovery IIs we've ever had in the shop.
We've built, sorted, and sold somewhere north of 40 Discovery IIs at D90 Auto Sales. This one is in the top handful — and honestly, it may be the single best-running example we've had come through the door.
That's not a line we use casually. We put a new battery in this truck and took it out on its maiden voyage today. About 20 miles in mixed driving, and the coolant temperature held rock-steady right around 200°F. Climbing hills and sitting in traffic, it crept up five or six degrees, then came right back down. Anyone who knows these trucks knows that's exactly what you want to see.
On a lot of Discovery IIs we'll install a 180° thermostat as cheap insurance. This one is running well enough that we don't believe it's necessary. The original thermostat and cooling system are doing their job.
The Foundation
4.6L V8, full-time all-wheel drive
82,496 actual miles
Clean CARFAX, no reported accidents, two previous owners
Verified ownership history
Engine bay is shockingly clean for the mileage
Frame & Underbody — Fully Documented
We posted before-and-after photographs of the underside of this truck because we don't hide anything. What's there is surface rust — the kind every Western PA truck of this age carries — and nothing structural. The frame is solid.
Woolwax has been applied throughout as a rust preventative. You can see for yourself exactly what you're buying.
Work Completed
Fresh Oil and Filter
New XZY Switch
New battery
Old Man Emu shocks and springs, front and rear (approx. 3" lift)
Terrafirma 16" steel wheels
BFG HD Terrain tires
Spare tire offset mount to accommodate the larger tire
Hood repainted in Epsom Metallic Green
Woolwax rust preventative applied to frame
Oil change and tire balance (both scheduled prior to delivery)
Honest Disclosures
This is a 22-year-old truck and it wears its age honestly. Here's the full picture:
No check engine lights. No pending codes. Nothing stored, nothing waiting to trip.
Interior: 8.5 out of 10, completely stock. Genuinely nice for the year.
Passenger seat is separating at a seam — photo posted
Roof clearcoat is wearing thin. A previous owner appears to have attempted a touch-up; sub-par work, but not visible from most angles
Wheel arches are showing their age — OK at best, and a straightforward item to address if you want it perfect
Assorted nicks and scratches throughout. Nothing major, just two decades of honest use
Surface rust on the frame as documented above
Pricing — Two Ways to Buy It
Option 1 — As it sits: $16,000
The truck runs, drives, and stops. It is being offered at a discount without the following planned work:
Ball joints
Wheel hubs
Track rod and drag link (Terrafirma HD)
OME steering damper
Option 2 — Fully sorted with a complete front end refresh: $18,000
We install all of the above before delivery. $2,000 covers parts and labor on a front end that would otherwise be the next thing on your list.
Either way, you know exactly what you're getting and exactly what's been left on the table.
Why This One
We specialize in Discovery IIs that are mechanically correct first and good-looking second. No shortcuts, no cosmetic covers over mechanical problems. This truck came in with a strong foundation and it's leaving the shop better than it arrived — and it drives like a truck with half its miles.
If you've been waiting for a Discovery II that someone who actually knows these trucks is willing to put their name on, this is the one.
